Time:  Full Day
Grade: Easy to Medium
Altitude Max: 4500m/14,764ft

We drive up to Llaca (Yah cah) Valley located northeast of Huaraz about 1.5 hours by car. We will pass Unchus and Llupa (You pah) Village where we able to see traditional Andean homes, farmlands and local Quechua people working the land still by their hands with simple farm utensils.  As we enter into the Llaca valley we see the impressive, breathtaking face of Ranrapalca 6162m/20,217ft coming into view.
Where the road ends, we start our hike ascending up to the top of the valley close to the glacier. Along the way we can see several of the rock climbing routes, and abundant lupines (Taulli) plants and flowers.  Returning from the Ranrapalca Glacier the view is even better as we traverse along the top of the moraine to the Ranrapalca Lake. We will spend time at Ranrapalca Lake 4474m/14,678ft enjoying the view and having a picnic lunch. Finally, we start our decent down to our trailhead starting point where our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz. 7 – 8 hours total.
