This is one of the most impressive scenic day hikes in all of the Cordillera Blanca. It is truly a very unique and special place. Lake 69 is one of the most beautiful aqua colored glacial lakes in the Cordillera mountain range. On clear days you can look straight through its waters to the rocks below and the sunlight dances on the water with all types of beautiful blues and greens. There is an incredible waterfall dropping right into the far end of the lake. This lake (Cocha) is located at 4600m/15,092ft.

The ride from Huaraz to this day hike is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours via private transport to reach the trailhead at Cebollapampa (3850m/12,631ft. The trail is well defined to Lake 69. At first we hike in rather easy terrain that is almost flat for about 45 minutes. Then we start to ascend up through a switch back trail to make our final ascent to Lake 69. It will take us approximately 2 hours including time for some breaks and photos. At the lake we spend time enjoying our snack and the beautiful surrounding pristine landscape. On our way back we will be treated to astonishing views of Huascaran 6768m/22,205ft, Chopicalqui 6364m/20,846ft and Yanapacha 5460m/17,912ft Mountains. During our drive back to Huaraz we will stop to visit the lakes Orconcha and Chinancocha in the Llanganuco Valley.
