After breakfast at your hotel, we pick you up in our private transportation to drive you to the Llanganuco Lodge where the hike starts. Our route up to the Llanganuco Valley takes us north along the Rio Santa in the Callejon de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) passing through traditional Peruvian villages with rich fertile farm lands and typical traditional home dwellings of the Quechua people as you enjoy the view of the white-capped high peaks Cordillera Blanca mountain range to the east and the Cordillera Negra mountain range to the west. On our drive we’ll make some stops for photos and also see the remains of the old village of Yungay which was buried by a mud-avalanche from Huascaran peak in 1970. From Yungay, we’ll continue our drive up on a road to the Lodge where we’ll start our first day hike to Rajururi Gorge up to Huandoy moraine field.
